"The Journals of Musan" Wins Tiger Award at IFFR

Director Park Jung-bum's "The Journals of Musan" has won the Tiger Award and the International Federation of Film Critics award at the 40th International Film Festival Rotterdam.

In an interview with Seoul-based Yonhap News on Saturday, Park said he would like to express his appreciation once again to his friend Jeon Seung-chul who inspired him to make the film. Park also conveyed words of gratitude to his mentor, Lee Chang-dong, who is a renowned film director, as well as the actors and staff of his film.

Park received some 15-thousand euros, or some 20-thousand-370 U.S. dollars, as prize money.

Two other films received the Tiger Award at the film event, including Spanish movie, "Finisterrae", and Thai film, "Eternity".

In the film, Park realistically depicted the despair that North Koreans who fled from their homeland for a better life in South Korea faced while trying to adapt in the South.
