The New York Times Honors Big Bang & 2NE1 With "Best Concert Of 2012"

Though they may have been partially eclipsed by the success of their labelmate PSY in 2012, groups Big Bang and 2NE1 still had a stellar year. Both idol groups embarked on global tours: 2NE1 on their "New Evolution World Tour" and Big Bang with their "Alive Galaxy Tour".

2NE1 kicked off their series in Seoul on July 28th, moving on to the US (New York, Los Angeles), Japan (Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Saitama), Taiwan (Taipei), and Singapore.

Big Bang's first global tour was even bigger. Sponsored by the Korean conglomerate Samsung, Big Bang joined hands with Live Nation, starting off in Seoul last March. 25 shows were initially planned, but due to the group's popularity, a total of 48 shows were held in 13 different countries! The group traveled through Japan (Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, Saitama, Fukuoka, Tokyo), China (Shanghai, Gyangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong), Singapore, Thailand (Bangkok), Indonesia (Jakarta), Taiwan (Taipei), Philippines (Manila), and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) in Asia alone! This doesn't even include the stops in Europe, North America, and South America: England (London), the US (Anaheim, Newark), and Peru (Lima).

There are still two more stops planned for the "Alive Galaxy Tour" in Osaka followed by their last performances in Seoul on January 25-27.

The New York Time honored both groups by listing both groups' concerts at the Newark's Prudential Center under their Best Concerts of 2012 list.

The New York Times took notice and selected both of their concerts in Newark's Prudential Center for their 'Best Concerts of 2012' list. The publication noted that though both groups have zero American hit songs, they still have massive American followings.
