The ODD Family goes to Europe

The Korean animation, The ODD Family, currently on KBS 1TV, is now to be shown in Europe.

"We have recently sold the TV broadcasting rights of The ODD Family to 10 European countries, including France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Romania via the distribution company TF1 International", Samji Animation (CEO: Kim, Su-hoon) announced on May 17.

The contract's total worth is 2.74 million dollars. In addition to its local revenues of 650,000 dollars, the total income from TV broadcasting rights that Samji Animation has thus earned is 3.39 million dollars.

According to the contract's terms, The ODD Family will be broadcast in Europe, starting on TF1 in France, to be followed by TELEPOOL in Germany, SVT International in Sweden, and YLE in Finland in the second half of this year.

"The ODD Family is a work of rare quality that combines cutting-edge 3D technology and the concept of a family sit-com", said Kim, Su-hoon, CEO of Samji Animation. "We expect that it will be the first Korean animation that sets the record of being broadcast in more than 40 countries worldwide".

The 3-D animation The ODD Family is a family sit-com that features twin brothers, an alien pet named Happy, and a mouse named Zenon. The animation gained media attention when its producers sealed a co-production deal worth 8 billion Korean won with France's TF1 four years ago.
