Local movie theaters are holding various special events to attract more moviegoers during the Chusok holidays. The following are some tips to make your trip to the movies more fun.

CJ CGV

The multiplex theater chain doubles your membership points when you see a movie at one of its chains through Oct. 8.

Those who see movies at different theaters can join a lucky draw event, of which first prize is a gift voucher worth one million won.

From Oct. 5 to 8, the first 300 people who watch movies at any theater after 9 p.m. will receive a set of magnets with images from movies "Tazza: The High Roller" ("Tazza: The High Rollers"), "Radio Star" and "Righteous Ties".

If you buy more than four tickets of the new IMAX animation "The Ant Bully" through the chain's official Web site, you can get a collection of 10 toys from Warner Brothers' animation.

With various giveaways, each chain will hold traditional game competitions such as arm wrestling, "chegi-chagi" (kicking a shuttlecock) and "tuho" (throwing arrows into a narrow barrel).

Don't throw away your used train, bus or plane tickets and tollgate fee receipts, and you can get a gift and an original sound track CD at Lotte Cinemas.

The chain theaters hold a "tuho" competition and those who throw five arrows and put more than three of them into a narrow barrel will get free movie tickets and free popcorn and beverages.

At a newly opened chain in Ansan, Kyonggi Province, foreign workers can buy a ticket for 4,000 won when they show their certificate of alien registration.

Mothers who work hard for their family during the holidays will see a movie for free with one of their family members.

Sons and daughters have already applied for the event for their mother, and successful applicants have received their tickets. But if you miss the chance, you can have fun reading their stories of "why my mother should get the free ticket" on the chain's official Web site.

At the chain in Samsong-dong, southern Seoul, there are small sets recreating scenes from such films as "Marrying the Mafia III", "The Fox Family" and "Radio Star" where visitors can take photos.
