Thessaloniki fest invites three Korean films

Noh Young-seok's award winner "Daytime Drinking" and KIM Dong-joo-I's drama "A Broom Becomes a Goldfish" have been selected by the upcoming 49th Thessaloniki Film Festival, along with Kim Jee-woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird".
"A Broom Becomes a Goldfish" will screen in the Official International Program section which chronicles the life of a kind-hearted, but ill-fated man. After a series of troubled experiences, the poor man sinks into a depression after someone dies in an accident he caused. YOO Soon-woong and Kim Jae-rok play the main characters.
"Daytime Drinking" is a comic take on Korea's elaborate drinking culture within a story about a man who encounters several people who insist on having a drink with him while he visits the countryside. Meanwhile, the friends he planned to travel with stand him up, except one who constantly claims to be on his way. Song Jae-ha and Tak Seong-joon star in the leading roles.
Both films previously screened at the 2008 Jeonju International Film Festival in the competition section. "Daytime Drinking" was also selected for the competition section of Locarno International Film Festival, where it won the NETPAC award.
Directors for the three films will attend the festival, in the illustrious company of "Multi-award winning Belgian auteurs Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, iconoclastic Japanese actor and director Takeshi Kitano, unconventional English director Terence Davies, internationally renowned and two-time Academy Award winner Argentinean composer Gustavo Santaolalla and Brazilian director Walter Salles, among others.
The 49th Thessaloniki film fest will kick off 14 November and ends on 23 November.
