Top stars to promote G20 Seoul summit

Figure skating champion Kim Yu-na, football superstar Park Ji-sung and actress Han Hyo-joo will be the official faces for the upcoming G20 Seoul Summit scheduled in November, Seoul.
The G20 preparation committee led by Chairman Sakong Il announced that the three stars will work as goodwill ambassadors.
"Kim, the gold medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Park, who led the national football team to the round of 16 at the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa and Han Hyo-joo, the protagonist of popular drama `Dong Yi' (MBC) will promote Korea to the world as goodwill ambassadors and also help input the meaning of the summit to fellow Koreans", the committee said in a press release.
It added that since the summit is an international event where Korea will hopefully emerge as one of the leading countries in the world, they specifically chose the two sports stars and the aspiring actress to promote the event.
Kim, who has become an international star after her win at the Winter Olympics, is enjoying her popularity in Korea as well. She has appeared in numerous commercials and television programs, and most recently announced her plans of competing at next year's International Skating Union World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo.
Football star Park rose to stardom from the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup games and continued to wow fans with his skills as Korea's first English Premier Leaguer with Manchester United. The national team's captain was chosen as one of the best midfielders by FIFA.
Actress Han made her debut in 2004 and appeared in many commercials before she had her big break with the drama "Shining Inheritance" (SBS, 2009). The 23-year-old is currently starring in the historical drama "Dong Yi", aiming to become the next Lee Young-ae, who played Jang-geum in the hit period drama "Dae Jang Geum" (MBC, 2003).
The Seoul summit is the fifth of its kind since it was initiated in November 2008 in Washington. The world's 20 largest economies have joined together in a series of presidential and ministerial meetings to plan a fast recovery from the recent financial crisis.

G20 정상회의 준비위원회 의장인 사공 일씨는, "2010년 밴쿠버 동계 올림픽에서 금 메달을 획득한 김연아, 2010년 남아공 월드컵에서 한국 축구를16강까지 이끌어준 주장 박지성, 그리고 한국 인기 사극 '동이'의 주인공인 한효주는 서울 정상회의의 의미를 세계에 알리는 역할을 할 것" 이라고 밝혔다.
김연아와 박지성은 세계 선수로서, 그리고 한효주는 한국의 정상 배우로서 한국을 빛내는 인물들이기에 뽑혔다.
금년 G20 정상회의는 2008년 11월 발족해 지금까지 다섯 차례 열렸다. 이 회의에 세계 20대 경제 국들이 모여 현 경제 위기를 극복할 수 있는 정보를 찾는대 주안점을 두고 있다
