Toronto Korean Film Festival at the Korean DANO Spring Festival: Advanced Discount Ticket Sales and Outdoor Screening of The Host

Toronto, May 22, 2012 - The Toronto Korean Film Festival will sell advanced tickets and passes at the 20th Korean DANO Spring Festival, which will take place atChristie Pits Park on Friday, June 1st and Saturday, June 2nd. Toronto Korean Film Festival will also hold a free outdoor screening of "The Host" (2006) after sunset on June 1.

The Korean Dano Festival is a traditional Korean holiday that happens annually on May 5th in the lunar calendar. This year is the 20th anniversary of the Korean DANO Spring Festival in Toronto. The Korean DANO Spring Festival will feature Korean culture shows, business booths, live performances, and a variety of Korean food.

Toronto Korean Film Festival will provide film-related activities at its booth. Meanwhile, advanced single tickets, four-packs, and full passes for the Festival will be available for purchase. Information regarding the actual Festival will also be available at the booth. 

"The Host" tells the story of an ordinary family, whose peaceful lives are violently disrupted by a mysterious monster that emerges from Han River. Park Gang-du, who runs a snack bar close to the river, witnesses the abduction of his daughter by a mysterious monster. Together with his father, brother who is a former student movement activist, and sister, a national medalist archer, Gang-du swears to rescue his daughter. However, the family must first try to overcome the indifferent government officials who insist on quarantining the family because they might be infected with the monster's supposedly deadly contagious virus.

The director of the "The Host", Bong Joon-ho, is mostly known for his internationally acclaimed work, "Memories of Murder" (2003). In addition to Bong's unique sense of dark humor and his sharp satire towards current affairs, "The Host" also evokes deep sympathy towards Park Gang-du's family.
