Troubled 'I Am a Singer' April's shows cancelled

April's MBC talent shows of "I Am a Singer" have been cancelled but will continue broadcasting in May as new producer Shin Jung-soo will take over the program, replacing Kim Young-hee.
"As the new producer needs some time to reorganize the program, we will air new episodes in May", an MBC official said. The broadcasting station will air a Korean wave concert in Thailand in April.
Before doing so, two episodes of the program will be aired this Sunday, revealing the second elimination.
The program sees top singers Kim Gun-mo, Baek Ji-young, Yoon Do-hyun, Kim Bum-soo, Lee So-ra, Lena Park and Jung Yub compete based on their singing ability.
In last week's episode, veteran singer Kim Gun-mo received the lowest score and was supposed to leave the show. However, the decision was made to give him another chance and this drew fierce criticism as it disregarded the rules of the show. After the snowballing controversy, Kim decided to drop out of the program, apologizing for staying despite the jury's decision.
Shin joined MBC in 1995 and directed programs such as "Come and Play" and recently "C'est si bon Concert", featuring popular singers from the 1970s.
"Shin is an expert in music programs and we thought he was the right person to direct the show", MBC said.

MBC 프로그램 '나는 가수다'의 연출자가 김영희 PD에서 신정수 PD로 변경되면서 4월 한 달 간 결방된다.
'새 제작진이 프로그램을 재정비하는 데 시간이 걸리는 만큼 5월 초쯤 새로운 방송을 선보일 수 있을 것'이라고 MBC 관계자가 말했다.
4월에는 태국에서 녹화한 '한류 콘서트'가 방영될 예정이다.
그 전에 이번 주 일요일에 지난 2주간 녹화한 분량이 방송되며, 두 번째 탈락자도 발표될 것이다.
김건모, 백지영, 윤도현, 김범수, 이소라, 박정현, 정엽, 일곱 명의 인기 가수들이 노래 실력을 겨루는 '나는 가수다'는 지난 주 7위를 한 김건모에게 재도전 기회가 주어지면서 논란이 됐다.
논란이 커지면서 김건모는 자진 사퇴 의사를 밝혔다.
새로 '나는 가수다'를 맡게 된 신정수 PD는 '놀러와'의 연출자이고 최근 1970-80년대 가수들로 구성된 '쎄시봉 콘서트'를 연출했다.
