Goo will appear in a Japanese music show on Wednesday after signing a management contract with an agency in the island country last week. She has enjoyed significant popularity in Japan since she was a member of Kara.
Posting a profile picture for the new agency on Instagram last Saturday, Goo left a message in Japanese reading, "As always, I'm grateful and really happy. I'll do my best. Thank you all for supporting me".
Goo has been in a dispute with an ex-boyfriend who accused her of assault. When she countered with accusations that he blackmailed her by threatening to release a sex tape, she became the target of an online hate campaign. Late last month she attempted suicide and was found unconscious by her manager, who immediately took her to a hospital.
