The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KBS on January 7th to collaborate on promoting the new media industry, including the co-development of a media-integrated-type broadcasting service.

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), with KBS, will contribute to the promotion of the new media industry by jointly developing high-quality Hallyu (Korean Wave) contents which are based on convergence of different media and public contents.

The two parties will work together to establish a foundation for the continuous expansion of Hallyu by promoting outstanding broadcasting programs and Korean-style new media technologies overseas.

By utilizing integrated services such as trial services of IPTV English subtitles, the parties will co-produce programs to help foreigners settle in Korea and distribute them through various channels. Based on which, the two parties strive to ensure more multi-national families in Korea to access broadcasting services, to attract tourists and help foreigners better understand the Korean culture.

Both the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and KBS will generally collaborate on projects related to the international exchanges in broadcasting areas. They include co-productions and overseas promotion of broadcast contents and of new Korean-style media technologies such as IPTV, DMB, and Wibro and governmental projects to support the development of broadcasting &communications in developing countries.

By expanding coverage of disaster broadcasting from natural disasters to cyber disasters, the two parties will cooperate on internet security forecasting to minimize damage to broadcast and communications backbone networks and internet users from penetration of viruses and malicious codes such as D-Dos.
