[TV Program] Realscope and Chorokbaem Media Announce Joint 3D Content Production

Realscope (www.realscope.co.kr CEO Lee Je-kwon) and Chorokbaem Media, Korean companies specializing in 3D content production and supply, have joined hands to collaborate on 3D content production.

Realscope, a subsidiary of KDC Corporation (029480ㆍCEO Chae Jong-won, Kim Sang-jin), signed an MOU with Chorokbaem Media (CEO Gil Gyeong-jin), the producer of the popular sitcom High Kick Through The Roof and the drama Chuno, to form a strategic partnership for 3D broadcasting technology and joint content production.

The two companies will work together in the areas of production, investment, promotion and marketing on investment promotion and auxiliaries (MD products, portrait rights) for joint 3D production. They will identify collaborative fields related to 3D contents on the basis of mutual exchange and cooperation.

With the upcoming 3D pilot to be broadcast on over-the-air TV this October, the two companies will begin working on a 3D drama in the form of a special purpose company, beginning next month. They will carry out the transformation into 3D of various dramas and videos produced by Chorokbaem Media.

Established in 2000, Chorokbaem Media has produced popular dramas such as All In, Phoenix, Jumong and High Kick Through The Roof, as well as becoming involved in the production and supply of media contents, a high value-added industry. Its recent KBS drama, Chuno, surpassed the 30% viewer rating within four episodes.

CEO Lee Je-kwon of Realscope said, "Our collaboration holds great significance in view of the launch of 3D broadcasting next year and as the first 3D content production for over-the-air TV. In strategic partnerships with over-the-air TV, cable, IPTV and general broadcasting channels (scheduled), we will offer our four years of accumulated expertise in 3D content production, transmission services and advanced technology, share contents and dominate the early market". Promoted as part of convergence between broadcasting and communications, 3D content business has received 20 billion won in government investment. The government has declared convergence contents, including 3D, as a new growth engine for Korea.

With the government's active involvement, the 3D content market will experience rapid growth. Japan, which has been transmitting 3D pilot broadcasts since 2008, regards Korea as a strong competitor in the 3D-TV market and is fully committed to developing the 3D broadcasting industry.

Based on the 3D content company nFX Media, Realscope was established in 2006 by KDC Corporation as a largest shareholder with investments by i-Station and Zalman.

The company began with production of Seo In-young's 3D music video in 2007, followed by Big Bang's concert.

With the MOU it signed with SBS Artech, it became the first company to produce programs in 3 D for over-the-air TV programs such as SBS Popular Songs and Utchatsa.
