Two Korean animations awarded from 2006 Annecy Festival.

Two Korean animations are awarded from 2006 Annecy International Animation Festival (as Annecy Festival) which held at Annecy Bonlieu, France from June 5th to 9th. This issue makes us to feel the boosting Korea animation's standing ahead.

As final selections that total 279 animated projects were advanced, France animation (Renaissance) won the grand prize, and 21 animations are crowned with glory to win a prize. For the Korea animations, 10 Korea animations advanced to final and 2 of them won the prizes.

'Castle, children lives - Co-produced with EBS, Character Plan, and Miracle Corporation' and 'Walk in Rainy day - The Korean National University of Arts, Director: Choi Hyeon Myeong' won the education award and the Jury prize as graduation project. Korea recorded to win 3rd most prizes next to France and England.

Meanwhile, 16 official prizes and 5 other prizes were specified and awarded for this Anncey Festival as assigned jury as children, so it pulled many viewer's eye.

"Plentiful Japan animations are less prefer to watch for recent trend and main features of 2006 Annecy Festival have no particular theme, which you can produce freely express your thought", Bae, Young-soo, assistant Manager of the Animation Character Team of KOCCA, said. "There were many projects required many staffs and large amount of budget, and short films are becoming to be a bigger size".

Annecy Festival, the biggest international animation festival in the world, conducts various animation businesses through MIFA(Market du International Film d'Animation.

The Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh Byung-moon) gave an opportunity to 2006 student animation competition winners to visit festival. These students said, "It was shocked for us to see short film animation producers advertise their project so hard".
