The 13-part series, titled "The Kimchi Chronicles", was directed by renowned food documentary maker Charles Pinsky, who has produced several documentaries about food with top chefs while traveling Latin America and Europe.

It also features Marja Vongerichten and her husband, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, one of the world's leading chef who is famous for his fusion cuisine. They travelled Korea for a month-long shoot. Celebrities including actor Hugh Jackman and his wife also participated.

The series covers much more than kimchi, looking into various regional specialties as well as tourist destinations across the country and introducing Korea's culture and natural beauty.

The series will be accompanied by a book, DVDs and a website offering more recipes and information on places to visit. Marja Vongerichten said she hopes to help American audiences become familiar and connect with Korean food and culture.
