Unicef charity fashion show held

Korea's veteran designer Andre Kim held a fashion show last night at Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel Convention Center as part of the Unicef Charity Dinner Show for Aids Orphans, an event organized by the Korean Committee for Unicef.

Kim, who serves as a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, presented "Andre Kim Fashion Art Collection for 2006 Fall/Winter", divided into two collections. Actor Ahn Sung-ki, also a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, emceed the evening's fashion show.

The opening collection saw actress Lee Young-ae and actor Kim Rae-won, both Unicef Special Representatives, take to the stage as special guest models. Joining the two on the runway were several foreign envoys stationed in Korea and envoys' spouses.

The main collection was presented in a theatrical fashion, something that is very uniquely Andre Kim's signature style. The first stage, titled "Yellow Roses Blooming in Black Diamond", saw sporty outfits in brilliant yellow and orange hues, sophisticated afternoon dresses and evening coats. Actor Shim Ji-ho and actress Lee Sae-eun were the featured special guest models.

Masterpieces by Michelangelo, Raphael, Ingres, Chagall and Klimt came to life on evening coats and jackets, evening dresses and concert dresses in the second stage, "Romance of White Snowing Night".

Five-thousand years of Korean history, from the royal courts of the Three Kingdoms to Goryeo and Joseon, were reinterpreted in the third stage, "The Legend of Korea & Orient Kingdom". Evening dresses and evening coats that combine modern aesthetics and aesthetics of the future dominated the stage.

The last stage of the show, "Christmas Fantasy of Snow Land", a collection that featured snowy white pieces came to a dramatic finale with a wedding gown in pristine white, another Kim hallmark.
