Untold Scandal to close Edinburgh festival

Untold Scandal, a film adaptation of French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses set in 18th-century Korea, has been selected as the closing film of the 2004 Edinburgh International Film Festival.

One of Great Britain's most prominent festivals, Edinburgh was originally scheduled to screen Hong Kong director WONG Kar-wai's 2046 as the Closing Film, but as it is currently in the process of being re-edited, it was decided to give the honor to Untold Scandal instead.

Featuring local stars BAE Yong-joon, LEE Mi-sook and JEON Do-yeon, Untold Scandal is the third film by rising Korean director E J-yong (LEE Jae-yong). E's previous films An Affair (1998) and Asako in Ruby Shoes (2000) both received enthusiastic receptions at various international festivals.

The 58th edition of the Edinburgh festival is scheduled to be held from August 18-29. Other Korean films scheduled to screen in the regular sections of the festival include IM Sang-soo's A Good Lawyer's Wife, PARK Chan-wook's Oldboy, RYOO Seung-wan's Arahan, KIM Hak-soon's Rewind, and MIN Byung-chun's Natural City..
