2015/06/16 Source

Please join us for the LA premiere and Red Carpet Gala Screening of SEOUL SEARCHING, an 80's romantic teen comedy directed by Benson Lee, on June 17th at 7:30pm at the LA Film Festival. Veteran actors Ch In-Pyo will join director Benson Lee, Justin Chon (TWILIGHT), Jessika Van (MTV's Awkward) and the entire filmmaking team for a special post-screening Q&A.

The film had its world premiere in January at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival where audiences delighted in this fresh throwback to the 80's with a uniquely international tapestry. Following its LA Red Carpet Gala premiere at the LA Film Festival, the film will be released theatrically in select cities nationwide. It will be the first Asian/Asian American ensemble film to be widely released in theaters since BETTER LUCK TOMORROW.

Based on filmmaker Benson Lee's own experience, SEOUL SEARCHING is an homage to the John Hughes teen dramedies of the 80s. The story centers on a group of Korean high school teens from around the world during the summer of 1986. Students from the U.S., Mexico, Germany, and UK are forced by their parents to attend a government sponsored "propaganda" camp in Seoul to learn what it means to be Korean, but end up experiencing a wild journey that turns into the most important summer of their lives.
