Washington Post reports 'Korea is plastic surgery capital of world'

The Washington Post has revealed the naked truth of "Korea as the plastic surgery capital of the world". The American newspaper posted an article and pictures that spotlight plastic surgery in Korea on its Internet blog "Wonkblog" on Saturday(local time).

The article introduces New York-based Korean photographer Ji Yeos exhibition titled "It Will Hurt a Little", which is currently held at BAXTER at CCNY. The article with a photo of a Korean woman in her underwear, whose face is wrapped with skin-colored bandage after plastic surgery, became the most-read article right away.

The pictures taken by Yeo depict luxurious facility of a plastic surgery clinic located in Gangnam, Seoul, and several female patients who are recovering from plastic surgery, medicine and syringes used in the operating room, a trash bin containing blood-stained gauze, which shows the facets of Koreas plastic surgery industry. These stunning photos show why S. Korea is the plastic surgery capital of the world, said Ana Swanson, who wrote the article.

Citing data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Swanson stressed that 20 percent of Korean women have had some form of cosmetic work, compared to 5 percent of American women.

The article says, One clinic has 300 employees, 30 doctors, 12 operating rooms, 40 post-operating rooms, 70 consulting rooms, which makes the entire process of plastic surgery fast and systematical.
