The Korea Meteorological Administration Thursday said the temperature will still reach 34 degrees Celsius in Seoul, 27 degrees in Gangneung, 28 degrees in Daegu, and 30 degrees in Busan on Friday.

Many parts will also be spared further tropical nights when the temperature remains above 25 degrees until morning.

Many Seoul citizens slept more soundly on Thursday night after suffering 26 days of tropical nights in a row until the day earlier. Thursday was the last of the three dog days this year.

Respite comes from rain in southern parts due to the influence of this year's 18th typhoon Rumbia, while a North Pacific anticyclone and Tibetan anticyclone that have surrounded the Korean Peninsula are weakening to some degree.

Cold and dry easterly winds are expected to blow toward Korea from Friday until Sunday morning, according to the KMA.

But the North Pacific anticyclone will likely gain force again from Sunday afternoon, when easterly winds die down, and by next Tuesday temperatures will rise as hot and humid air arrives from the south.

Temperatures in most regions will soar to 33 degrees again, with some areas suffering more tropical nights.
