Winter Sonata to Be Aired in Iraq

The popular Korean drama "Winter Sonata", which was a hit among viewers in Asia, will be shown in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil. That's where some 3,000 Korean troops are stationed on a peace and reconstruction mission.

The Korean Overseas Information Service says Kurdistan TV will broadcast "Winter Sonata" every Thursday at 5 p.m. Iraq time starting this week. There will also be a re-run at 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday.

Officials hope the Korean TV series will help promote the image of Korea and Korean soldiers, not just in Iraq, but in other Middle Eastern countries as well.
