Park Yu-chun arrives at the Gangnam district office on Wednesday.

The woman who accused boyband JYJ member Park Yu-chun of sexual assault has dropped her charges, saying he did not use force, police said Wednesday.

The 24-year-old woman last Friday accused Park of sexually assaulting her in the toilet of a bar and submitted her underwear as evidence.

But she now said she was hurt when Park and his friends were rude to her after the two had consensual sex in the toilet. She also had second thoughts about the sex itself, where she felt Park's conduct was insulting.

She said the relentless media attention changed her mind.

Police said they intend to continue the investigation. "We respect the woman's wishes but will keep investigating to determine what happened", a police spokesman said.

Sexual assault charges do not require a complaint from the victim, so police have the authority to continue investigating.

Park's agency C-JeS Entertainment in a statement said the pop star "is already undergoing a trial in the court of public opinion based on hearsay, damaging Park's image, which is not easily restored. We will prove his innocence".

Park, who is serving his mandatory military duty by working at the Gangnam district office, came to work on Tuesday morning but took sick leave and left early to avoid reporters.
