Movie star Won Bin has been dispatched to a Border Guard unit and will be patrolling the iron fence separating the two Koreas to protect his country from infiltration. Reports earlier this month said the 29-year-old star, who started his compulsory military service late last year, volunteered for a frontline post after finishing his basic training.
An Army source said Won Bin was assigned to the post on Thursday after demonstrating his readiness to serve. The GOP unit he will be joining is responsible for guarding the iron fence at the Southern Limit Line of the DMZ, where sensory temperatures fall to -30 degrees in winter.
