The girl band Wonder Girls has officially launched their American tour that will continue through June and July.

The group's agency, JYP Entertainment, announced that the five-member band was starting the "Wonder Girls World Tour" on June 4 in Washington DC, last week.

"All of the members have prepared a great deal for the tour. We will try to echo the love we have received over the months in the U.S. Thank you for your support", the group was quoted by the agency.

The girls introduced themselves to the American public last year by appearing at the opening shows for the Jonas Brothers, and made a comeback in Korea with a new album "2DT" and the track "2 Different Tears". For the last two weeks, the girls have appeared on numerous music shows and entertainment programs, topping both online and offline music charts.

The concerts will be produced by one of America's best known event organizing companies, Live Nation, and scheduled in various cities across the U.S. and Canada.

According to the agency, Live Nation proposed a solo concert after discovering the band's potential and also their popularity among U.S. fans. The group is the first Korean band to be working with the firm.

Other JYP groups 2AM and 2PM will appear as opening acts.

The two groups will alternate as the opening act, and hopefully captivate the U.S. and Canadian audiences with their songs and styles.

The tour runs through July 12 in cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Orlando, Vancouver and Toronto. For more information, visit http://www.wondergirlsworld.com
