The MOFAFF plans to hold an event Tuesday of appointing the 5-member girl group, which is popular not only in Asia but also the United States, as its publicity ambassadors.

The band members will each take charge of one of paprika, strawberries, apples, roses and citron, five strategic items for MOFAFF in overseas markets.

The group will sing promotional songs that will be available at such video-sharing sites as YouTube, hold press conferences in target countries and organize fan meetings.

"It is a great honor to become the publicity ambassadors of our agricultural produce. We will do our best to introduce the good taste and high quality of Korean food to our global fans", the Wonder Girls said in a statement.

The girl group made its debut in early 2007 and instantly basked in the spotlight with the song "Tell Me", which became a national sensation, and follow-up songs such as "Nobody" also chalked up great success.

The Wonder Girls advanced into the United States in 2009 and became the first Korean band to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart late that year with the English-language version of "Nobody".
