Yomiuri: "Japanese Wave" Taking over S. Korea

A Japanese daily says Japanese comics, novels and films are growing in popularity in South Korea.
The Yomiuri Shimbun said Monday that the market share of Japanese comic books in Korea jumped to 60 percent in 2006 compared to about 50 percent in 2003.
According to the report, more than half of the top 100 novels in Korea are originally written in Japanese. The daily added that Japanese films are also steadily expanding their share of the South Korean market.
Yomiuri said younger Koreans are mostly drawn to Japanese cultural content, particularly to entertainment.
