Single men and women in their 20s and 30s spend most of their money on rent, according to a recent straw poll. The matchmaking firm Duo conducted a nationwide poll of 312 young singles to determine their spending patterns.

Some 30.8 percent said housing expenses, including rent, account for the largest portion of their monthly spending. Next came those who spent the most on food, followed by clothing and alcohol. Only 1 percent said they spend the most on education.

About half said they save between W500,000 and W1 million a month (US$1=W1,019), and half also said they spend more than they save.
