Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi has been cast to star in the third installment of the "My Wife Is a Gangster" series, 'My Wife is a Gangster 3'.
Zhang, who made a cameo appearance at the end of the 2003 film " My Wife Is a Gangster 2", has agreed to play one of the main characters of the upcoming gangster comedy, according to local company Hyunjin Cinema, which will co-produce the film with China Film Group.

The company is currently in negotiations with actress Shin Eun-kyung to reprise her role as the gangster boss Eun-jin. The third film of the series will tell the story of Eun-jin going to China on a mission of revenge. Since receiving international attention for the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", Zhang has appeared in such films as "House of Flying Daggers", "Hero", "2046" and "Rush Hour 2", as well as the Korean film "Musa". She will also star in the upcoming film "Memoirs of a Geisha". The movie will be filmed mostly in China and will be released late next year.
