Busan Media Content Market Draws Global Crowd

Major television and film companies around the world were represented on Wednesday at the Busan Contents Market in the Haeundae Grand Hotel. Busan is transforming itself into the "content port" of Korea.

The city has been hosting a series of multimedia, broadcasting, film, advertisement and games events, and is trying to establish itself as the base of the contents industry. The BCM 2009, which runs till Friday, is a major example.

In its third year, the BCM has attracted 321 companies from 27 countries this year. Some of the largest U.S. movie investors such as Sony Pictures and Warner Brothers, as well as Britain's BBC, the world's largest exporter of media contents, and Japan's largest private broadcasting company Fuji TV participate in the event.

The organizing committee predicts media content worth US$16 million will be traded in this year's market, up 50 percent from last year's $11 million.
