The Gwangju International Film Festival, scheduled to be held from August 26 through September 4, 2005, receives a film of exhibit to be submitted to the competition of this Film Festival's short films.

The 6th Gwangju International Film Festival this year established its competition section of short films newly.

An applicant who wishes to send a film to this Film Festival, has to send by post along VHS tape for screening by downloading a written application from this Film Festival's homepage ( http://www.giff.org ).

A cinema of exhibit has to be a work within running time 40 minutes, which was produced since January this year. There are no any restrictions for genres and materials.

A total of 40 films, which will be selected via a preliminary examination, are screened over the period of this Film Festival.

A large number of short films are being made every year, and their subject matter, genre and style are diversifying. GIFF 2005 will be a venue for unique short films submitted to GIFF and films that recently came into the spotlight in prominent Korean short film festivals.

A total of 17 short films from home and abroad were put on the screen at last year's GIFF2004, ranging from short 5-minute works that are whimsical and insightful to films that give the thrill of genres, and speculative films with experimental images that ponder upon film aesthetics.
