According to C-Jess Entertainment, Hwang Jung-eum recently filed for divorce settlement with the court. Regarding the reason for divorce, the agency drew a line that it was a private matter and stated, "We will make sure the divorce goes smoothly".

Hwang Jung-eum married pro-golfer and businessman Lee Young-don in February of 2016. They met through a friend. Hwang Jung-eum then had a son in August of 2017.

The next year, Hwang Jung-eum returned with a drama called "The Undateables". She then continued to star in the JTBC drama "Mystic Pop-Up Bar" which ended in June this year and KBS 2TV drama "To All The Guys Who Loved Me" which ended on the 1st of September.
