[Interview : Bu Jae-ho, Director Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations of Korea ] "This year's festival consists of many programs in which participants can actively experience what Jeju has to offer".

The programs for this year's festival have increased to more than 30, 50 percent more than last year.
The folklore session of the festival will start on Friday with programs featuring the Jeju dialect, traditional games and Jeju's shamanic songs and dances.
Beginning on Saturday, traditional art sessions will be staged at Tapdong Square and continue through October 11th.
Traditional ceremonies to honor the Tamna God of Creation and the Mandeok Goddess will also take place. They will be followed by traditional percussion performances.
New programs will be introduced for the first time at the Jeju 5-day market and other cultural heritage sites so that residents and tourists can feel the traditional aspects of Jeju more closely.
In addition, a special organizing committee has been set up so that 11 local art groups can offer joint programs in a more systematic way.
The Tamna Cultural Festival first started in 1962. Back then it was called the 'Jeju Art Festival'.
Over the last 50 years, the celebration has grown to offer not only performances - but exhibitions, reenactments and hands-on experiences for participants.
It's become a unique chance to hand down Jeju's tradition to the next generation and show the true colors of the island.
