Singer Lee Sun-hee, who conducted a choir of people born in 1945 at the 70th anniversary of the nation's independence from Japanese occupation last year, has received a commendation from the government.

Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn honored Lee and 62 other people on Thursday for their contributions to the celebration.
Hwang lauded her efforts to "bring Koreans together, transcending regional and generational divides".
