[HanCinema's News] "12.12: The Day" Breaks Two Million Viewer Mark

At a recent press screening for "Tell Me That You Love Me" actor Jung Woo-sung expressed happiness that his currently screening feature film "12.12: The Day" had broken two million admissions at the South Korean box office. The words were somewhat premature, as of November 27th, "12.12: The Day" had only around 1.9 million admissions. But Korean Film Council data released on November 28th confirmed that, as expected, the historical drama had jumped to 2.1 million admissions.

"12.12: The Day" depicts the events surrounding South Korea's 1979 coup d'état. It stars Hwang Jung-min as a Chun Doo-hwan inspired dictatorial figure and Jung Woo-sung as another commander who attempts to stop him from taking over the country's political system. "12.12: The Day" has little competition for next week's box office, with "Single in Seoul" as its only domestic competitor and no international releases of note.
