[HanCinema's News] Kim Min-jun Confirmed as the Actor Behind the Rough Thing in "Exhuma"

With over six million admissions, "Exhuma" has been a huge hit at the South Korean box office. One of the occult film's points of intrigue has been the identity of the rough thing, an otherworldly being that takes on some importance in the story. In a recent interview, writer/director Jang Jae-hyeon has confirmed that actor Kim Min-jun plays the face of the creature. However, the elaborate special effects required to produce the creatrue also required three more collaborators.

For the body, Jang Jae-hyeon recruited Kim Byung-oh, the second tallest player in South Korean basketball history at 220.8 centimeters. Kim Min-jun had to work together with Kim Byung-oh in order to get the rough thing's appearance to work right. The combined makeup for the two required five hours to develop. The otherworldly voice of the rough thing also needed two separate performers- the Japanese voice actor Rikiya Koyama, and the Korean voice actor Choi Nak-yoon.

The general unrecognizability of these four people in the final role has made crediting them properly a bit awkward. However, strong interest in "Exhuma" has led to their being given their due, for a role where even jerks and screams have left a strong impression on audiences. "Exhuma" started screening in South Korean theaters on February 22nd.
