Students made their way to take the annual college entrance exam on Thursday morning. Over 548,000 students took the exam at nearly 1,200 locations across the country.
Police escorted students to ensure they would arrive on time for the exam, which began at 8:40 a.m. Public offices and some private firms started work an hour later than usual to reduce traffic in the morning rush hour.
In the afternoon, flights will be grounded and construction sites will be closed to help students take their English listening test undisturbed.
Meanwhile, it was the coldest exam day in five years with morning lows dropping to near zero in many parts of the country and below zero in Seoul.
