2nd Chance to See The Magicians, Host & Guest and More

2006/12/26 | Permalink | Source

Hypertech Nada's annual Nada's Final Proposal (Nada Majimak Peropojeu) aims to re-introduce to the audience films that in general only enjoyed a short cinema run, but arguably - deserve greater exposure. This year the line-up includes the independent Korean films: "The Magicians" (Mabeobsa), "Host and Guest" (Bangmoonja), "Between" (Sai-eseo), "No Regret" (Hoohwehaji anha) and the Korean-Chinese co-production "Grain in Ear" (Majong). The more mainstream film "Dasepo Naughty Girls" (Dasepo Sonyeo - "Dasepo Girl") is also included.

Writer/director Song Il-gon showed great skill, inventiveness and imagination by filming "The Magicians" in one take, even more when considering that the storyline moves between past and present. The plot revolves around former band members who come together to commemorate the suicide of one of them. The ghost of the deceased is also present and observes how they still struggle with the loss and their feelings of guilt.

"Host and Guest" is the feature film debut of director/writer Sin Dong-il. His film examines Korean society through protagonists who represent minorities in Korea. The film was invited to several international film festivals and received positive criticism.

"Between" is a documentary about a woman facing the dilemma whetherto become a shaman and is directed by Lee Chang-jae. Lee Song-hee-il's "No Regret" deals with gay-sexuality and broke records at the box office for independent films. Writer/director's Zhang Lu's "Grain in Ear" portrays the struggle in China of a single mother with Korean roots. E. J-yong (Lee Jae-yong) adapted the popular internet comic Dasepo Naughty Girls ("Dasepo Girl") into film. The humorous light satire about sexual mores at a high school includes musical elements.

Nada's Final Proposal's foreign film inclusions are: Yureru, Der Fischer und Seine Frau, Love Love Prague, We Shall Overcome Someday, Beyond the Sea, Transamerica, Crash, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Return, Me & You & Everyone, Station Agent, The Wayward Cloud, Good Night and Good Luck, My Life Without Me, Intimate Strangers, Nine Lives, Osama and Hotel Rwanda.

The event starts Friday December 29, 2006 with No Regret. The Hypertech Nada/Dongsoong Art Center website is Open the link and their telephone number is (02)-766-3390.
